Rebirthing History

Rebirthing is ancient. In a book entitled Rebirthing According to Spirit , the channeled entity Mother Mary relates how rebirthing "was practiced by the Essenes...many thousands of years ago, even before Master Jesus came onto this planet. Since the fall of Atlantis 13,000 years ago, this technique has been largely forgotten until rediscovered by Leonard Orr in the 1970's.

Leonard developed rebirthing over a thirteen year period as a result of hie experiences of birth memories. These memories began in 1962 when he suddenly couldn't get out of his bathtub. He said he stayed there for two hours before he had enough strength to get out.

Leonard had numerous rebirthing experiences between 1962 and 1975. He began to talk about his birth memories in his seminars, and of course, most of the attendees wanted to have similar experiences.

In order to create a womb-like environment, the first sessions were done in a hot tub with nose clips and a snorkel. It was soon discovered however, that it was much better to iniitate people into a series of guided sessions without the water, hence, dry rebirthing was born.

In Leonard's words, "This made it possible for rebirthing to become a mass movement. Getting into a hot tub, nude except for nose clips and a snorkel, and reliving your birth, was a little esoteric for most people. But now all people had to do was lie down and breathe and they could have the most marvelous experience of their life."
