Emotional Healing

Energy Healing

Emotions are energy in motion. We need them, and we need to have a healthy relationship with them. But we have all been emotionally abused to some degree, and have learned as a result that at least some of our emotions are not okay.

For example, when young were you really allowed to feel and express your anger when your needs were being violated? Most likely you were told, "Never act like that again," or "Don’t you ever talk to me like that again! What’s wrong with you? Shame on you!" So you more than likely learned at an early age that anger wasn’t okay.

Sadness makes insecure parents feel as though they’re not creating a happy home for their children. You may have been told, "Quit crying, you big sissy—what’s the matter with you?" or maybe "Stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about!" In this way you learned you couldn’t be sad.

Being afraid may have disturbed your parents. You may have been laughed at, or your fear may have been minimized by being told there was nothing to fear. So you learned that fear wasn’t okay. This can be especially true for boys who are often called a "sissy" and told to "act like a man."

It may not have been okay even for you to feel joy, given that most parents unwittingly prevent their children from having higher self-esteem than they do. So you may have learned that you have no right to be happy or enthusiastic.

What this means is that if you were told you were wrong, bad, stupid, or crazy for feeling what you felt, then you learned on a very deep level that there was something wrong with you for feeling the way you did. In other words, you were shamed for feeling your emotions, and shaming is the most damaging assault on your self-esteem because it has no boundaries. Your whole being is affected by shame.

So if you experienced emotional abuse, you have emotional problems to some degree, and the emotions are bound with shame. After a while you don’t feel shame anymore because you have internalized it, and now you are it! You have learned on a very deep level that you are worthless, that you can’t trust your feelings or perceptions, that you always get it wrong because you are wrong—not because you made a mistake, but you are a mistake.

You may have noticed these unresolved emotions don’t just dissolve. They live in the body in the form of stuck energy, held in place by shallow breathing. Furthermore, because they create unpleasant sensations in the body you develop body armor and withdraw awareness from your body. You then internalize the emotion through denial, avoidance, or self-blame, or you externalize by acting out or blaming others. Neither way ever produces emotional resolution.

Breath of Life Rebirthing

Integration comes from awareness and acceptance of what you are feeling in a safe setting, so you can allow yourself to have a thorough experience of it. Breath of Life Rebirthing is a kinesthetic process (which means the focus is on integrating into your sense of well being all sensations/feelings in your body).

Working at the feeling level is faster and much more efficient than working directly with the mind. You do not need to have a cognitive understanding of what is happening. You can do it entirely at the level of sensation. That alone will change how your mind relates to the situation. This is so because every thought has a corresponding feeling in the body, and when the feeling integrates, so does the thought, leaving you with the feeling of peacefullness. Integration is not a concept, nor is it positive thinking. You can feel it---there is an undeniable energetic shift in your body.

Breath of Life Rebirthing, when properly understood and practiced, is a 100% reliable method for creating emotional healing (integration).

Personal Transformation through Emotional Healing

Emotional healing is the key to personal transformation. So beginning with sadness, lets take a look and see and how emotions integrate. Let’s be very dramatic here and suppose you just lost your best friend. The one person you could count on and confide in just died. That means you need to go through the feelings of sadness and grief, and you need to feel them fully. When you have had a thorough experience, these feelings will integrate. When they do, you are left with gratitude for having had what you had with this person, the memories, etc.

Now let's look at fear. First we need to be clear that there are two kinds of fear: real fear and imaginary fear. Examples of imaginary fear would include fear of public speaking and fear of roller coaster rides--this in spite of the relative safety associated with these two activities. When that type of fear integrates, you are left with the feelings of excitement and exhilaration. The energy is still there with the same level of intensity; it is just that it has now been transmuted into your sense of well-being. The other type of fear occurs when your safety or your life itself is at stake. An example would be driving on a winding mountain road in a blizzard. If you are at the effect of that activated fear, you will almost certainly do the wrong thing at the worst possible time, like slam on the brakes and turn against the skid. If, however, the fear is integrated, you are left feeling very alert, in the present moment, and in your body. You will then have a greatly expanded ability to be appropriate in the moment.

Anger integrates into determination, which facilitates your effort to get your needs met. Guilt and shame integrate into innocence and a more complete awareness of your natural divinity. Since all your emotions are bound with shame, there will be an integration of shame every time you integrate an emotion. Integrating shame-bound emotions is one of the keys in reclaiming your child-like innocence, which is essential in the process of opening your heart and reconnecting with your Higher Self and your natural divinity.
